Jay Friedman and Mio Nakamura perform Stjepan Sulek’s Vox Gabrieli Sonata

My friend and colleague Ingemar Roos was visiting William Kramer many years ago. Cramer told Ingemar about the program/idea of the Vox Gabrieli. On the last page it is a depiction of a trial by fire of Gabriel which was relayed to Cramer by the composer. Thanks to John Drew, who sent me correspondence between Sulek and Cramer. Unfortunately there is no mention of this description in the letters and although surely provided by Sulek to the publishers, unconscionably not included in the published edition.

Does anyone in the trombone world know of the inspiration/program for the work depicting God’s trial by sword and fire of Gabriel? If so please share this information and I will disseminate this to our trombone brethren everywhere.
